President's Message

Welcome to the 2010 version of the Central East Alberta Teachers’ Convention. Please take advantage of this opportunity to share time with others, to confer with your colleagues so that you personalize your own situations and to find something to make your very demanding craft just a little better. Be very sure to treat yourself to a bit of relaxation over the next few days – you have earned it !

At the fall, Professional Development Conference teachers were asked to identify strengths in our current delivery of education to children. Very clearly the identified mindful learning and teaching as the most significant attribute in our system. Teachers continue to meet ever increasing expectations. Evidence indicates that Alberta teachers are performing at a very high level of expertise and are expending great amounts of time and energy. You are to be commended for your incredible commitment to children.

It should also be noted that much of the important learning takes place as a result of your efforts cannot be measured by an assessment tool. Your relationships and interactions with children in your care are crucial to real learning.

Please take time to commend the members of your convention board for the significant amount of volunteer time and effort they have given to make these two days a meaningful event. Have a great convention !
